Free Range Creative Taps Industry Veteran Scott Gagain To Lead Its Growing Performance Capture Business and Operations

Headquartered in Marina del Rey, CA, Free Range Creative is now making its space available to the wider entertainment sector for events, creative partnerships, and more.

FRC boasts an outstanding team, a top-tier facility, and years of production know-how. My aim is to bring that combination to a wider array of projects, commercial shoots, and partnerships.”— Scott GagainMARINA DEL REY, CA, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Free Range Creative (FRC), a premier performance capture studio located in Marina Del Rey, CA, revealed today that it has brought on board seasoned industry expert Scott Bailey Gagain as Executive Producer and Head of Operations. Gagain has been chosen to grow the company’s performance capture work, while also highlighting the studio’s role as a creative center for commercial, entertainment, and technical endeavors throughout the creative landscape.

Gagain joins FRC alongside a highly skilled production and technical group led by Creative Director Jeff Swenty, whose background includes Mocap Direction on several Call of Duty titles, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, and Guitar Hero, along with Technical Director Marc Morisseau, whose credits feature Avatar and Deadpool. The core group also comprises Wendy Nguyen (Avatar) and Audio Director Nakia Harris (Call of Duty). Collectively, the team brings a wealth of experience spanning feature films, AAA video games, television, animation, audio, and new entertainment formats.

“We’re incredibly proud of our team and the workflows we’ve established at FRC. At the same time, we’re always looking to expand the possibilities of what a performance capture studio can achieve,” said Technical Director Marc Morisseau. “Scott shares that mindset, and we’re excited to work alongside other talented developers and creators.”

For over twenty years, Gagain has operated at the crossroads of performance capture, animation, and narrative, holding key roles in creative development, production, and business strategy. He has worked with creators and production teams to bring some of the most ambitious projects to life, building a reputation as a reliable partner for assembling the right technical and creative teams, addressing complex issues, and ensuring project success. His professional path includes leadership positions at Epic Games, Vicon House of Moves, and Motion Analysis Studios, where he collaborated with FRC’s Jeff Swenty.

“Scott possesses a lifetime of expertise in motion capture, spanning pre-production to post-production,” said Swenty. “His deep knowledge also extends to the creative aspects of mocap and its applications. At FRC, we aim to explore what is creative and compelling, and Scott is certainly someone who can help us push the boundaries of what’s achievable.”

FRC’s performance capture facility offers a large-scale performance stage paired with a complete production environment, designed to support projects from capture to final animation. The studio includes a 40-foot by 60-foot capture area with a 16-foot ceiling, OptiTrack cameras, Head Mounted Cameras (HMCs), Stretch Sense gloves, real-time Unreal Engine integration, and a sound recording studio with a VO booth. Additional amenities feature a viewing loft, a private production office, a full kitchen, a locker room with a shower, two loading bays, and reserved parking.

Engaging the Wider Creative Community

Although performance capture remains the foundation of the company’s services, FRC is now opening its facility and production knowledge to the broader creative community, facilitating commercial and film shoots, events, prototype development, creative collaborations, and other emerging forms of storytelling and interactive entertainment.

“We’re in a unique creative era where AAA video games and feature films exist alongside YouTube, microdramas, live experiences, and entirely new content types,” said Gagain. “What makes this opportunity so compelling is that FRC already has an amazing team, a world-class facility, and decades of production experience. My objective is to help apply that combination to more projects, commercial shoots, and partnerships.”
