a severed digit, a vanished woman, and a rugged hiking route pull detectives into a web of suspicion, lies, and a hidden reality soaked in history.

“Are you more of a person after reading Treacherous Path than you were before?”— George KerpiNEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Writer George Kerpi takes readers into a realm filled with mistrust, forgotten secrets, and startling revelations through Treacherous Path, a crime thriller anchored by a chilling query: How deeply can we ever truly understand someone else?

The narrative opens with the vanishing and demise of Natalie Brooks. While investigators dig for clues, unsettling findings come to light, including a cut-off finger wearing a recognizable ring. Accusations arise swiftly, yet what looks straightforward grows more murky as detectives encounter contradictory testimonies, unexpected ties, and details that resist any neat explanation.

The inquiry is steered by Captain Steven Harlan and Detective Aaron Chase, two officers trying to sort fact from speculation while those close to Natalie are pressed to revisit their own interactions with her.

For Kerpi, though, Natalie is not merely the dead figure around whom the plot revolves.

“Natalie was probably the most difficult character for me to write,” Kerpi says. “I wanted to do justice to her memory. The entire book is built around the death of this one person. If the reader doesn’t care about the person who died, then ultimately, why should they care who killed her?”

This method gives Treacherous Path a mission that goes beyond identifying the culprit. The book examines how fast doubt morphs into certainty, how looks can cloud reasoning, and how the reality of another individual is seldom as straightforward as it initially seems.

Kerpi, hailing from the Republic of Georgia and now residing in New York, carries a lifelong passion for narrative into his craft. His artistic inspirations include the Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli, who penned The Knight in the Panther’s Skin. Kerpi first tried composing Treacherous Path in poetic form before realizing the characters and the puzzle demanded the flexibility and breadth of a full-length novel.

In the end, Kerpi hopes readers walk away from the tale with more than just the resolution of a whodunit.

“The first thing I would ask a reader is simply, ‘Did you like it?’” Kerpi says. “But what I am most curious about is something else: Are you more of a person after reading Treacherous Path than you were before?”

Treacherous Path by George Kerpi is offered in paperback, hardcover, and digital formats.
