When a scientist with two decades of research under his belt decides to make his findings accessible to the public, the result can be a game-changer for how we think about prevention. That was the scene in Los Angeles last week, as Irish nutritional scientist Professor John Nolan brought his documentary A Vision for Vision to a private audience of medical professionals, wellness advocates, and entertainment industry figures.

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, October 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The event took place Thursday evening at The London West Hollywood, where attendees gathered for a screening of the new documentary A Vision for Vision. The film, helmed by two-time Emmy® Award-winning filmmaker Wayne Chesler, chronicles Nolan’s investigative work into how targeted nutrition and naturally occurring carotenoids—including lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin—may influence visual function, brain health and healthy aging.
After the screening, Nolan and Chesler sat down for a conversation moderated by health and wellness influencer Allison Melody of “Food Nation.” The discussion delved into the science presented in the film, Nolan’s conviction that preventive nutrition deserves more attention, and the challenge of translating decades of laboratory and clinical research into practical knowledge that everyday people can grasp and apply.
The guest list reflected the film’s interdisciplinary appeal. Among those in attendance were Dr. Sun Young Lee, M.D., Ph.D., a board-certified retina surgeon and clinician-scientist at USC; Dr. Kristina Voss, M.D., Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at USC; Dr. Shenila Rajani, O.D., a National Board-certified optometrist and owner of Eye World Eye Care; Frederic Jouhet, founder of MacuHealth; Carlos Torres, Director at MaraVilla LLC; and others. For these healthcare professionals, the evening offered a unique perspective: observing how intricate scientific concepts can be repackaged into a documentary format designed to resonate with patients and the general public alike.
“What surprised me about this film was learning just how powerful carotenoids are when it comes to protecting our eyesight and supporting our brain health,” says health and wellness influencer Allison Melody. “Who knew the secret to sight was hidden in plants?!”
“I believe anyone interested in longevity and innovative nutrition would benefit from watching A Vision for Vision,” says Jared Reichert of Sensing Wellness. “Those with loved ones experiencing Alzheimer’s disease or macular degeneration may find it particularly meaningful, while others may feel inspired to approach nutrition and supplementation more intentionally as part of their preventive health practices.”
Nolan’s body of work spans multiple areas of human health. His research includes the re-MIND study focused on people with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease; the CREST AMD trials examining targeted carotenoid supplementation and visual function in individuals with age-related macular degeneration; and the recently published SNIPE study, which looked at macular carotenoids and omega-3 fatty acids in relation to visual function and performance among precision-sport athletes and players.
These studies gave Thursday’s audience multiple entry points into the film’s subject matter—whether their interest lay in eye health, the aging process, memory, nutrition, or human performance. The film’s reach extends beyond the screen, touching on themes that resonate across generations.
“Younger generations would really benefit from seeing this film, as prevention is so important,” added LA-based filmmaker Heather McKay. “Professor Nolan’s research highlights how accessible the benefits of nature can be and, as the film beautifully demonstrates, how early we can start prioritizing our health.”
Thursday’s Los Angeles event marks the beginning of a wider release campaign for A Vision for Vision, opening the door for audiences beyond the scientific community to engage with Nolan’s research through documentary storytelling. The next stop is Austin, TX, where a private screening is scheduled for October 13, ahead of the film’s public release on Digital/VOD beginning Tuesday, November 3.
