Milder muzzle blasts for ceremonies and stage shows are now on the market, after event planners and effects teams asked for a less thunderous option.
Feedback from event organizers, film effects companies, and theatrical users inspired our Light Load blanks—a reduced-report option for settings where standard blanks are too loud.”— John DunlapSANDUSKY, MI, UNITED STATES, October 30, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Dunlap Cannon Co. has rolled out Light Load 10 Gauge Blanks, broadening its signal blank lineup with a product shaped by input from groups that fire signal cannons at parades, weddings, and similar gatherings.
These new black powder blanks carry a smaller powder charge, yielding a gentler crack and less smoke than the company’s regular 10 gauge rounds. They serve as a middle ground for occasions where the visual and auditory punch of a signal cannon is welcome, but a standard charge proves louder than organizers can accept.
“We developed this product in response to feedback from organizations using signal cannons at parades, weddings, and other special events, as well as special effects companies serving the film industry and customers involved in theatrical productions,” said John Dunlap, founder of Dunlap Cannon Co. “One customer uses a Winchester signal cannon during performances of Tchaikovsky’s ‘1812 Overture.’ These customers wanted the cannon effect, but found our standard blanks too loud for certain settings. Our Light Load blanks give them a reduced-report option for performances, events, and locations where noise sensitivity is a consideration.”
The Light Load rounds join the company’s current blank selection, giving buyers more control over how their cannon sounds in a given venue. Even with the softer report, users still need to follow hearing protection guidance, the cannon maker’s operating instructions, and any local event rules.
Every new shell comes with a brass base, plastic hull, and star-crimped closure, which improves the seal and boosts water resistance. The fired shell length is 2 inches, and the rounds are sold in boxes of five.
Dunlap Cannon Co. Light Load 10 Gauge Blanks are priced at $14.99 per five-round box. Further specs and purchase details can be found at WinchesterSignalCannon.com
