After its run at the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the 110-foot tall Freedom 250 Ferris Wheel is traveling to the Ohio State Fair, giving attendees a chance to enjoy part of an extraordinary national patriotic event.
For 16 days, the Ferris wheel was set against views of the U.S. Capitol, the Washington Monument, and the Smithsonian museums, hosting families from all over the country as they came together to commemorate America’s approaching 250th anniversary. More than just an amusement ride, the wheel came to represent unity, classic American spirit, and the enduring custom of gathering people.
Now, that same celebrated attraction is continuing its travels in Columbus.

Taylor Talley, who acted as the main public representative for the Freedom 250 Ferris Wheel during the national festivities in Washington, D.C., will be in Columbus on behalf of Talley Amusements throughout the Ohio State Fair.
Also traveling to Columbus is the Freedom Truck, another well-known element of the Freedom 250 event that helped narrate America’s semiquincentennial story and connected with visitors over the course of the celebration.
As one of the country’s top state fairs, the Ohio State Fair now forms the next installment in the Freedom 250 narrative, enabling attendees to experience an attraction that was part of one of the nation’s most important commemorative events.
Operated and owned by Talley Amusements, America’s Traveling Amusement Park, the Freedom 250 Ferris Wheel carries on its national tour after contributing to history on the National Mall.
The Ohio State Fair takes place from July 29 through August 9 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio.
