The Santos Sisters join forces with Flaming Carrot in an Upbeat Limited Crossover Series

Initial glimpse of the forthcoming The Santos Sisters/Flaming Carrot crossover marks a weekend filled with appearances by renowned creator Bob Burden.

His schedule includes several signing sessions (always offered at no charge), a show-exclusive Flaming Carrot/Santos Sisters sketch edition, and a featured Sunday panel paying tribute to his long-time friend and fellow creator, Steve Ditko, the co-creator of Spider-Man.

To generate interest for the new Santos Sisters crossover, Burden is reviving a promotional tactic from his earlier career. “We’re producing a limited, signed and numbered SKETCH edition of the debut issue of Flaming CARROT/Santos Sisters crossover. This is intended for the press, distributors, and certain store owners to get a first look at the book. “Only around one hundred or two hundred copies will be made, and the back cover will feature blank boxes for sketches from myself, Greg, and Fake. Extra copies will be available for purchase by readers and fans during my signing events (details below). The proceeds will support the book, fund advertising, and possibly help bring the team to SDCC next year—similar to a Kickstarter model.” This year, only Burden will attend San Diego Comic Con, but Greg and Fake will provide a sketch whenever you encounter them at future conventions. “Incentives and special offers like this kept us moving during the early days, and independent creators still face similar challenges today. Naturally, all funds raised will go entirely toward the Santos Sisters project—for more advertising and convention appearances. I don’t require any of it for myself. “

Burden is joined by Frank Miller, Michael Uslan, and Mark Ditko for a special panel honoring the life and legacy of Steve Ditko.
Burden made a lighthearted remark about the rest of his Comic-Con schedule.
"For the remaining time, I managed to get a job down in National City where I wear a Pharaoh costume and spin a sign on the sidewalk outside a used car dealership. (Just kidding. I'll be at the show all weekend.)
Considering the panel, Burden noted that being part of the Steve Ditko tribute holds significant importance.
"I'm genuinely thrilled to be included on the Ditko panel. Steve was a superb artist and a close friend," Burden said. "He never hesitated to offer advice, talk about his early experiences, or engage in philosophical discussions. He was a brilliant individual, but also a very grounded, working-class person who remained authentic. He infused comics with a great deal of emotion, realism, and youthful anxiety through his Spider-Man character, thereby ushering in a new era of comics."
