Free Mac App Provides Claude, ChatGPT, and Any Other AI Assistant with 385 Local MCP Tools to Locate, Create, Edit, and Export Video on Apple Silicon

For three decades, editing has required placing clips on a timeline. GroundSlate eliminates that. Your AI scans your collection, handles the creative choices, and produces the final movie. Simply speak to it as you would an editor.”— Ted MurphyORLANDO, FL, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — COEY, an AI-first media technology firm created to amplify human creativity through intelligent machine partnership, today unveiled GroundSlate™, the first video editing platform engineered from the beginning to be operated by an AI assistant instead of a person at a keyboard or device.

GroundSlate provides 385 local tools to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, Cursor, Google’s Gemini, and any other assistant built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing an assistant to browse a user’s video collection, produce fresh media, and output a complete, rendered film. Every tool operates on the user’s own Mac with no credits required for generations. The software is available now at no charge.

An MCP-First Design: No Timeline, Only Results.

Conventional nonlinear editors such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and CapCut rely on manual human effort: a person imports footage, arranges clips in order, cuts transitions, and exports the outcome. GroundSlate was designed from scratch as an MCP Server, featuring a media-focused interface that helps a user grasp what their AI is observing and doing within the application.

Rather than a person, a user’s chosen AI assistant examines the library, identifies significant moments, constructs the sequence, selects visual effects, creates any missing footage, and exports the file, while the user explains the desired film in everyday language.

Tailored for Apple Silicon

GroundSlate is developed exclusively for Apple Silicon, utilizing the MLX framework to take full advantage of next-generation Macs. It is fine-tuned specifically for the high-performance hardware capabilities of the most recent Mac mini and Mac Studio models with larger shared memory, but it functions on any M-Series Mac featuring at least 16GB of shared memory.

On-Device AI Media Creation

GroundSlate generates AI video, music, sound effects, and speech directly on the machine, employing leading open source models. Users can replicate a voice from a brief audio sample or design an entirely new one, synthesize narration in that voice, produce a shot that was never captured, score a sequence with a music bed that automatically lowers beneath narration, and sync a character’s lip movements and expressions to a recorded track. Each created asset is added to the library with a provenance record indicating the model, prompt, and seed used. GroundSlate also permits AI agents to store assets generated from AI media cloud providers, giving end users the capability to combine frontier models with local models within the same program.

On-Device AI Analysis

The application indexes all content into an open, searchable catalog: transcripts with word-level timing, scene descriptions sampled as frequently as every quarter second, identified people, music maps of beats and sections, plus location and time metadata. An assistant can then locate footage the way a person remembers it, searching for spoken words, who appeared on screen, where a clip was recorded and when, and receiving exact time ranges instead of whole clips. GroundSlate uses JSON and markdown to store file data in an open catalog that any agent can interpret and act upon.

A New Era of Video Production

“AI is bringing about a new wave of video production capabilities that bears no resemblance to the previous one,” said Ted Murphy, Founder of COEY. “For thirty years, professional editing has meant a person at a keyboard arranging clips along a timeline. GroundSlate has no timeline. Your AI reads the library, makes the decisions, and renders the film on your own machine — you simply talk to it like an editor.”

“When you link GroundSlate to frontier models like ChatGPT Astra or Claude Fable, it becomes even more capable,” Murphy continued. “Frontier AI models can provide professional-level edits and motion graphics through the GroundSlate MCP. As open local models improve, end users will shift more of the AI pipeline onto their own devices.”
