Proud Greek American filmmaker draws on his family heritage while creating new opportunities for Greek talent in Hollywood
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, July 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Greek American movie producer Tommy Vlahopoulos is adapting the incredible true tale behind New York’s iconic Scores nightclub for the cinema, all while staying connected to a family lineage firmly rooted in Greece and opening doors for Greek talent inside the entertainment sector.
Via his own company, Tommy V Films, Vlahopoulos has secured sole life-rights to Scores co-founder Michael D. Blutrich and is currently working on a feature film based on Blutrich’s book, ‘Scores: How I Opened the Hottest Strip Club in New York City, Was Extorted Out of Millions by the Gambino Family, and Became One of the Most Successful F.B.I Informants in History’.
For Vlahopoulos, this effort signifies much more than simply crafting a gripping true-crime narrative. The producer remains strongly tied to his Greek roots: his mother comes from Neo Psychiko in Athens, while his father originates from Litochoro in the Dion-Olympos municipality. Through ‘Scores’ and upcoming ventures under the Tommy V Films brand, Vlahopoulos aims to generate expanded opportunities for Greek performers, directors, and creative personnel, while paying tribute to the contributions Greek immigrants have made to America’s film industry.
Spanning the years 1991 to 1998, the motion picture will detail the ascent of Scores, the famous Manhattan gentlemen’s establishment that emerged as one of New York City’s most well-known nightlife hotspots throughout the 1990s. The narrative follows lawyer-turned-entrepreneur Michael Blutrich as a bold business endeavor transforms into a cultural sensation, ahead of his life taking an unforeseen turn into organized crime and federal law enforcement circles.
Even though it was frequently targeted by professional criminals in its initial period, Scores rapidly grew into one of New York’s most discussed nightlife venues and a draw for celebrity visitors. Its famous clientele featured Howard Stern, Madonna, Russell Crowe, Michael Jordan, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Christina Aguilera, Jason Giambi, Demi Moore, and countless others. At its height, the brand operated two Manhattan venues and licensed the Scores name to gentlemen’s clubs across five additional cities.
Yet behind the glitter, Blutrich’s existence took a drastic and hazardous turn. After being caught up in an unrelated $400 million Florida insurance fraud case, he began secretly aiding federal authorities in 1996 concerning alleged extortion by Gambino crime family members. His path from nightclub co-founder to undercover FBI informant ranked among the most extraordinary episodes in Scores’ history.

Vlahopoulos, whose producing credits feature the forthcoming John Travolta film ‘Ed’ and the Scott Eastwood action picture ‘The Outpost’, will produce alongside fellow Greek American producing partners John Bortolis, Jimmy Black, and Theodore Otto. Christopher J. Scott (‘Ed’) will act as lead producer.

Back in 2015, CBS’s 60 Minutes featured Blutrich’s story in the Anderson Cooper report ‘An Unlikely Informant’, detailing his shift from Scores co-founder to undercover FBI informant. ‘Scores’ is presently in development, with pre-production scheduled to commence later this year in New York and New Jersey.
