Freestyle Digital Media drops AI-drama ‘Carlton Taylor Has Major Problems’ this October

The collision of old-school editorial rigor with an AI-obsessed publishing industry takes center stage in a new indie dramedy hitting digital platforms this fall.

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital distribution arm of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has announced the release of the dramedy feature CARLTON TAYLOR HAS MAJOR PROBLEMS, which arrives on North American digital HD internet, DVD, cable, and satellite platforms beginning October 9, 2026.

The story unfolds in the days just before Christmas, centering on Carlton, a fastidious textbook editor who lives by facts and order. His world collapses when a young CEO steers his long-standing publishing house into an AI-driven future. Hitting rock bottom, Carlton finds himself reconnecting with a mysterious yet strangely familiar person who drags him into a brutal odyssey spanning time, space, and fantasy. As he moves through fractured pieces of memory and fear, Carlton is pushed toward a final threshold where reality starts to dissolve, leaving his ultimate destiny hanging in the balance.

Thomas Ryan Ward wrote and directed the film, which comes from Grayson Berry Productions, LLC — the film’s owner — in association with Freestyle Digital Media. Ward also produced alongside Grayson Berry, Carly Christopher, and Theron LaFountain, with executive producers Robert Benjamin, Dennis Chavis Scott Lewis, and Greg Kohls. The cast includes Grayson Berry (‘Major’), Carly Christopher (‘Annabelle’), Theron LaFountain (‘Simon’), Maria Tornberg (‘Tina’), Thomas Ryan Ward (‘Carlton’), Raff Marchetta (‘Spencer’), Ally Ross (‘Kayla’), Andy Dispensa (‘Peter / Bartender’), Arthur Gregory Pugh (‘Franklin’), Bellamy Shivers (‘Bartender’), Bob Senkewicz (‘Archie’), Christopher Riley (‘Young Carlton’), Damien S. Berger (‘Joseph’), Danielle Richards (‘Felicia’), Dennis Chavis (‘Norm’), Dwayne Standridge (‘Sam’), Emily Mangiavillano (‘Chloe’), Eric Browne (‘Charon #1’), Jeffrey P. Thornton (‘JW’), Jessi Clayton (‘Sheila’), Landon Chavis (‘Landon’), Luis Calv (‘Luis / Bandito Lad’), Nick Ferarro (‘Waiter’), Sadie Doyle (‘Gal #2’), Salar Ghajar (‘Large Man’), Taso Zouroudis (‘Ka’Tareen / Charon #2’), Terry Benjamin (‘Piano Player’), and Tifanie Sbriscia (‘Susan / Gal #1’).

Ward, who also stars in the lead role, described the film’s thematic weight: “MAJOR PROBLEMS is a story about a man and an industry under pressure: truth, technology, addiction, the ugly business of deciding what a country teaches its kids. Then it puts him on a journey he never asked for and reminds us of something easy to forget, that facts are worth fighting for and nobody survives that fight alone.”

The acquisition was negotiated directly between Freestyle Digital Media and the filmmakers.
