Freestyle Digital Media drops AI-dystopia dramedy ‘Carlton Taylor Has Major Problems’ on VOD

The collision of old-school editorial rigor with an AI-obsessed publishing world takes center stage in a new indie dramedy that’s now hitting North American streaming shelves just in time for the holiday season.

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital distribution arm of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has officially launched the feature film CARLTON TAYLOR HAS MAJOR PROBLEMS across North American digital HD internet, DVD, cable, and satellite platforms as of October 9, 2026.

The story unfolds in the days just before Christmas, centering on Carlton, a detail-obsessed textbook editor who lives by facts and order. His carefully constructed world begins to crumble when a young CEO steers his long-established publishing house into an AI-driven future. As Carlton spirals toward his lowest point, he encounters a mysterious yet strangely familiar person who drags him into an intense odyssey through time, space, and fantasy. Along the way, he navigates fractured memories and deep-seated fears, ultimately heading toward a climactic confrontation where the boundaries of reality dissolve, leaving his destiny hanging in the balance.

Thomas Ryan Ward wrote, directed, and stars in the film, which comes from Grayson Berry Productions, LLC—the production company that owns the project—in association with Freestyle Digital Media. Ward produced alongside Grayson Berry, Carly Christopher, and Theron LaFountain, with executive producers Robert Benjamin, Dennis Chavis, Scott Lewis, and Greg Kohls rounding out the team. The cast features Grayson Berry as ‘Major,’ Carly Christopher as ‘Annabelle,’ Theron LaFountain as ‘Simon,’ Maria Tornberg as ‘Tina,’ Thomas Ryan Ward as ‘Carlton,’ Raff Marchetta as ‘Spencer,’ Ally Ross as ‘Kayla,’ Andy Dispensa as ‘Peter / Bartender,’ Arthur Gregory Pugh as ‘Franklin,’ Bellamy Shivers as ‘Bartender,’ Bob Senkewicz as ‘Archie,’ Christopher Riley as ‘Young Carlton,’ Damien S. Berger as ‘Joseph,’ Danielle Richards as ‘Felicia,’ Dennis Chavis as ‘Norm,’ Dwayne Standridge as ‘Sam,’ Emily Mangiavillano as ‘Chloe,’ Eric Browne as ‘Charon #1,’ Jeffrey P. Thornton as ‘JW,’ Jessi Clayton as ‘Sheila,’ Landon Chavis as ‘Landon,’ Luis Calv as ‘Luis / Bandito Lad,’ Nick Ferarro as ‘Waiter,’ Sadie Doyle as ‘Gal #2,’ Salar Ghajar as ‘Large Man,’ Taso Zouroudis as ‘Ka’Tareen / Charon #2,’ Terry Benjamin as ‘Piano Player,’ and Tifanie Sbriscia as ‘Susan / Gal #1.’

Ward, who also stars in the lead role, offered insight into the film’s thematic core: “MAJOR PROBLEMS is a story about a man and an industry under pressure: truth, technology, addiction, the ugly business of deciding what a country teaches its kids. Then it puts him on a journey he never asked for and reminds us of something easy to forget, that facts are worth fighting for and nobody survives that fight alone.”

The acquisition was negotiated directly between Freestyle Digital Media and the filmmakers, with no third-party intermediaries involved.
