EXCLUSIVE: From Arctic Ice to Monaco Royalty—Marco Antonio Soriano and AWA Forge a 1,000-Year Future for Fine Art, Unveiling at Monaco’s Elite Gala
“The collaboration between Soriano and Bjerkestrand at AWA is groundbreaking. Merging 3D laser scanning with polar archiving protects humanity’s cultural heritage for a millennium. Club Vivanova is honored to present this in Monaco.”— — Bradley Mitton, Founder & CEO of Club Vivanova
DRAMMEN, OSLO, NORWAY, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — This October, a quiet fusion of sub-micron laser engineering and extreme polar preservation is establishing a new benchmark for global cultural resilience. Driven by the forward-thinking leadership of Marco Antonio Soriano, CEO of Arius Europe, in a pioneering alliance with Rune Bjerkestrand, CEO of the Arctic World Archive (AWA), ultra-high-resolution Art Digital Master Files (ADMFs) are being placed deep within a retired coal mine in the demilitarized permafrost of Svalbard, Norway.
After this historic Arctic deposit, Soriano will transport this thousand-year vision from the frozen depths of Svalbard to the luminous heart of the French Riviera. As a distinguished member of Club Vivanova, Soriano will welcome a curated group of collectors, cultural figures, and VIPs at the prestigious Club Vivanova Royal Charity Gala this November in Monaco.
Taking place under the High Patronage and Presence of H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie of Monaco—a globally recognized champion of the arts—the gala will serve as the premier international showcase for the future of fine art preservation, while raising critical funds for two notable Monegasque charities: Fight Aids Monaco and Écoute Cancer Réconfort.
A Visionary Alliance: Soriano and Bjerkestrand
Physical masterpieces housed in museums and private galleries face mounting dangers from climate change, natural disasters, and geopolitical instability. Every painting carries fragile, irreplaceable narratives conveyed by the height of an impasto peak, the stress cracks in aged varnish, and the distinct pressure of an artist’s brush.
Recognizing this worldwide urgency, Soriano joined forces with AWA leadership, including Rune Bjerkestrand, to pioneer an absolute safeguard.
Under the guidance of Marco Antonio Soriano, CEO of Arius Europe, the company is quickly broadening its European presence to serve major cultural centers, museums, and private collections throughout the continent. “Europe holds a vast portion of the world's most endangered physical masterpieces,” states Soriano. “Our goal in the EU is to establish a standardized digital safety net…,” states Marco Antonio Soriano. “In an increasingly unpredictable world, backing up human creativity requires structural precision and visionary partnerships. By pairing our sub-micron scanning capabilities with Rune’s incredible work at the Arctic World Archive, we are giving fine art an unalterable digital refuge. It ensures that no matter what transpires on the surface, the physical truth of global heritage remains protected for centuries.”
Capturing the True Topography of Fine Art
Conventional digital archiving depends on flat, high-resolution photography, capturing color while losing the three-dimensional essence of an object. Arius takes a fundamentally different approach. Using proprietary, non-contact 3D laser scanning, Arius measures canvas and panel surfaces at a sub-micron scale.
The resulting “Art Digital Master File” functions as a genuine digital twin. By recording the exact color, geometry, and surface elevation down to thousandths of a millimeter, each Arius scan captures the physical truth of an artwork without ever making contact with its surface.
When transferred to the AWA’s specialized, light-sensitive silver-halide film, this sub-micron data becomes unchangeable. Stored hundreds of meters inside the Arctic permafrost, the AWA archives require no electricity to remain stable and are shielded from cyber threats, electromagnetic pulses, and severe environmental changes for over 1,000 years.
From Preservation to High-Society Celebration
As fine art enters an era demanding permanent digital backups, Arius’ Arctic deposit establishes the new standard of excellence. But the technological success represents only part of the story.
At the upcoming Club Vivanova Royal Charity Gala, Soriano will reveal the full scope of this accomplishment to the world’s elite. The event itself will host hundreds of guests, and Soriano along with the Arius executive team will offer attendees firsthand insight into how sub-micron scanning is revolutionizing both art conservation and luxury asset management. It is a unique chance for the world’s top collectors to learn how their own private collections can be preserved forever.
