This next-generation AI film studio becomes the first production company to ever finish multiple genre films using this new medium

Magic Engine Studios has announced the launch of its fifth feature-length movie, ASTRO CATS: THE MOVIE, a sci‑fi gonzo space comedy, which will make its premiere on Alchemy Streaming via Apple TV and Roku on August 15.

This achievement marks the culmination of roughly one year of work on all five films and highlights the commercial viability of the Magic Engine production pipeline—a repeatable method for creating original entertainment by orchestrating commercially available generative AI tools with traditional filmmaking techniques.

"People often assume generative filmmaking is simply typing a prompt and letting a computer make a movie," said Brian James Gage. "That's not what we've built. The Magic Engine production pipeline is a filmmaking methodology. It combines commercially available generative AI technologies with traditional creative disciplines and constant human direction to produce original feature entertainment. Every decision—from writing and production design to editing, voice performance, music, pacing, and final delivery—is guided by creative intent."

The Magic Engine production pipeline brings together writing, production design, cinematography, editorial, visual effects, voice performance, music composition, sound design, quality control, and post‑production under a single creative vision, allowing for faster production while maintaining creative control throughout the filmmaking process.

Over the last twelve months, Magic Engine Studios completed and delivered five original feature films using their proprietary production methodology, all directed by Gage. Together, the productions total 349 minutes of original feature content. They also cover a wide variety of genres—including science fiction, fantasy, action, holiday entertainment, comedy, and family programming—demonstrating the versatility of the Magic Engine production pipeline across many storytelling formats.

"Our objective has never been simply to make AI movies," explained Debbi Berlin, CEO of Magic Engine Studios. "Our goal has been to build a professional production company capable of delivering commercially viable entertainment through an innovative, repeatable production and distribution methodology. Completing five feature movies in approximately one year demonstrates that this approach can scale while continuing to evolve creatively."

ASTRO CATS: THE MOVIE will premiere in a one‑time engagement on Alchemy Streaming, accessible via Apple TV and Roku, as part of AIMV's Saturday Night at the Movies, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
