For the fifth consecutive year, Oklahoma City Community College has been recognized by MovieMaker magazine as one of the Best Film Schools.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, UNITED STATES, August 28, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) has once again been selected as one of the 30 Best Film Schools in the U.S. and Canada by “MovieMaker” magazine, marking the fifth straight year.
The 2026 list from “MovieMaker,” a Hollywood, California‑based online publication with a quarterly print edition, was released on Aug. 24.
“We are grateful to MovieMaker magazine for continuing to honor OCCC’s film program as one of the U.S. and Canada’s best,” said OCCC President Dr. Mautra Staley Jones. “This ongoing accolade is a testament to the vision of our film program’s founder and department namesake, Gray Frederickson; the dedication of our professors, Greg Mellott and Sean Lynch; and OCCC’s commitment to supporting the film industry in Oklahoma.”
OCCC’s Gray Frederickson Department of Digital Cinema delivers top‑tier training from instructors who are industry experts, paired with cutting‑edge equipment and facilities. OCCC students have contributed to major motion pictures and television series, including “Twisters,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Tulsa King,” “Reservation Dogs,” “The Lowdown,” and more than 30 other low‑ and medium‑budget films.
Currently, OCCC students are working on the set of the film “Copperhead,” starring Miles Teller and directed by Tulsa native John Swab, which is scheduled to shoot in Oklahoma from Aug. 17 to Oct. 9.
