Robert Redford’s final narration returns to Dallas in Texas premiere of environmental film

When a legendary voice delivers its final performance, the moment deserves a stage worthy of its legacy. That moment arrives in Dallas later this month, as an environmental symphony originally performed in the city returns in a new cinematic form — one that preserves Robert Redford’s last narration for the project.

Environmental concert film created and directed by Sibylle Szaggars Redford features Robert Redford’s final narration and spoken-word performance.

‘We are honored to bring this to audiences in a new cinematic form, preserving Robert Redford’s moving spoken-word contribution to The Way of the Rain while extending its message to new generations.’”— Michael Cain

DALLAS, TX, UNITED STATES, October 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A convergence of art, music, and environmental advocacy is set to unfold at the Dallas Museum of Art, where EarthX, The Way of the Rain, Inc., and M3 – Make Media Matter will host the Texas premiere of The Way of the Rain – Hope for Earth: A Symphony for Our Planet. Scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026, in the museum’s Horchow Auditorium, the event anchors EarthX’s HALF-EARTH DAY® celebration and arrives in partnership with the Dallas International Film Festival. Organizers envision the evening as a fusion of film, live music, visual artistry, and thoughtful dialogue centered on humanity’s bond with the natural world.

At the helm of this project is environmental artist Sibylle Szaggars Redford, who created and directed the piece. The Way of the Rain – Hope for Earth unfolds as a sweeping cinematic journey, beginning with the origins of the universe and galaxies before focusing on Earth’s emergence as a unique, life-sustaining planet. The production layers orchestral arrangements, choral voices, cinematic visuals, artistic imagery, and spoken word into an immersive exploration of the planet’s beauty, vulnerability, and the intricate connections that sustain all living things.

The creative team behind the work includes composer Tim Janis, who crafted the musical score, performance-film artist Floyd Thomas McBee, and Alexandra Raszkazoff, who performs as the Mother Earth soloist. Adding to the project’s historical weight, the film features Robert Redford’s final narration and spoken-word performance for The Way of the Rain.

For those involved, the Dallas premiere carries a profound sense of homecoming. The film captures a live performance recorded on October 22, 2022, at the city’s Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, where the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Youth Choir performed under conductor Julien Benichou. Now, four years to the day later, the work returns to the city of its origin — reimagined and repackaged for a fresh audience experiencing it on screen.

“The Way of the Rain – Hope for Earth is a love letter to Mother Earth and an invitation to remember that humanity is inseparable from the natural world,” said Sibylle Szaggars Redford, Founder and Artistic Director of The Way of the Rain, Inc. “I am deeply honored to bring this film home to Dallas, where this extraordinary performance was first realized with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Youth Choir.”

“From the moment I encountered Sibylle Szaggars Redford’s extraordinary vision, I knew it belonged at EarthX,” said Trammell S. Crow, Founder of EarthX. “This film brings together the beauty of art, the emotional force of music, and the essential urgency of environmental stewardship.”

Rather than leaning on statistics or policy arguments, the film uses its layered visual and musical language to prompt audiences to reflect on the living systems that support the planet — and the shared responsibility to protect them. The artistic approach creates space for emotional resonance and collective introspection, offering an alternative pathway to environmental awareness.

The October 22 program kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with a VIP cocktail reception, followed by remarks from Sibylle Szaggars Redford at 6:00 p.m. The screening itself begins at 6:15 p.m., and the evening wraps up with a filmmaker conversation and audience Q&A at 7:15 p.m.

VIP tickets are $100 and include the cocktail reception, screening, and Q&A. General-admission tickets are $20 and include the screening and Q&A. Tickets and additional information are available at https://www.events.earthx.org/TWOTR26/begin.

Production credits for the film span multiple organizations: EarthX, The Way of the Rain, Inc., August Sky, King Hollis, M3 – Make Media Matter, and Michael Cain.

Why it matters: This premiere transforms a one-night orchestral performance into a lasting cinematic artifact, ensuring that Robert Redford’s final spoken-word contribution remains accessible to audiences long after the curtain falls. By pairing artistic expression with environmental advocacy, the event demonstrates how cultural experiences can inspire stewardship in ways that data alone often cannot.
