Space Jam turns 30 with rare Lola Bunny debut sketches headed to auction

Three decades after Michael Jordan swapped a basketball court for a cartoon world, the cultural mashup that defined a generation is getting a memorabilia blowout that puts its rarest creative artifacts on the block. Propstore, a globally recognized auction house for entertainment collectibles, has joined forces with Warner Bros. Archives to mark the 30th anniversary of Space Jam with an exclusive online sale running from October 19 through November 2, 2026. The film, which famously merged live-action NBA footage with hand-drawn animation, introduced audiences to Lola Bunny—a character who would go on to become a staple of the Looney Tunes universe—and pitted Bugs Bunny and company against the alien Monstars in a high-stakes game of basketball.

More than 150 individual lots will be up for grabs, and nearly every item carries a starting bid of just $100. Collectors from around the world can place bids via Propstore.com. In a charitable twist, Warner Bros. will make a one-time donation to Make-A-Wish® after the auction closes.

Among the standout pieces is a rare collection of production roughs capturing Bugs Bunny’s first encounter with Lola Bunny. The lot consists of three sets of graphite drawings marked with orange line work, key-frame references, and camera lines. Lola, who first appeared on screen in Space Jam, has since become a fixture in the Looney Tunes roster. The pre-sale estimate for this historical set is between $1,500 and $3,000.

Also on offer are two original hand-painted concept artworks that were used to design the Looney Tunes’ basketball court in Toon Land—one showing the court during the day, the other at night. Valued at $2,000 to $4,000, these pieces offer a rare glimpse into the visual development of one of the film’s most iconic settings. The movie itself featured appearances from some of the biggest basketball stars of the 1990s, alongside beloved characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Sylvester, and the newly minted Lola Bunny.

Directed by Joe Pytka and released by Warner Bros., Space Jam celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026. This auction gives fans a unique opportunity to commemorate the milestone with animation artwork, prints, and costumes directly tied to the production.

The online auction runs from October 19 to November 2, 2026, with worldwide bidding available. Registration is open now, and the full catalog can be viewed at http://propstore.com/SpaceJam.

Fans who register for the auction will automatically be entered for a chance to win a large-sized giclée print commemorating the 30th anniversary—no bid or purchase necessary. Full terms and conditions are available at the same link.

Chuck Costas, Vice President of Business Development at Propstore, reflected on the film’s enduring legacy: “It’s amazing to see how Space Jam brought together basketball and animation in a way that continues to connect with audiences 30 years later. Propstore is delighted to partner with Warner Bros. Archives to offer a fresh selection of Space Jam artwork and items from the film that have never been released before in an auction celebrating the film’s creativity and lasting appeal. With most lots starting at just $100, there will be something for collectors at every level.”

Why it matters: This auction doesn’t just sell memorabilia—it opens a vault of animation history that has remained unseen for three decades. For collectors and fans alike, it’s a rare chance to own a tangible piece of a film that bridged sports and cartoons in a way that still resonates today. The inclusion of Lola Bunny’s debut sketches underscores how a single character introduced in 1996 became a lasting icon in pop culture.
