• The MovieMaker Scholarship is back for 2026, backing emerging creatives who are seeking careers throughout the entertainment field.
• Up to $295,000 CAD in partial tuition awards will be distributed.

VFS (Vancouver Film School) and MovieMaker Magazine are again teaming up to assist aspiring filmmakers and entertainment industry professionals with the reintroduction of The MovieMaker Scholarship.
Building on the initial year’s positive results, the MovieMaker Scholarship returns with substantial tuition assistance for talented creators worldwide who wish to gain practical training at VFS’s Production Centre located in Vancouver, Canada.
Designated a Leading Film School in North America by MovieMaker and Variety, and a Leading Film School Worldwide by The Hollywood Reporter, VFS’s School of Film & Television offers five distinct programs covering film production, acting, writing, sound design, and production makeup.
Students train using professional production workflows and industry-level facilities – including a 64,000 cubic ft. motion capture volume (Beyond Capture Studios), seven fully independent shooting studios, and a 280-degree green screen studio – while working together across multiple VFS programs and learning from experienced faculty and industry mentors active in film, television, and games.
The following awards will be given:
• One $20,000 scholarship
• Five $15,000 scholarships
• Ten $10,000 scholarships
• Several additional partial awards drawn from a funding pool of up to $100,000
Recipients may use the scholarship toward any of VFS’s one-year School of Film & Television programs:
• Film Production
• Acting for Film & Television
• Writing for Film, Television & Games
• Sound Design for Visual Media
• Makeup Design for Film & Television
Applications open on August 18, 2026, close on October 1, 2026, and winners will be revealed on October 21, 2026.
