For actors from smaller communities, breaking into the television industry often feels like a distant dream. A new success story out of Sarnia, Ontario, however, proves that the path from local theatre to a major network franchise is more attainable than many might think.

From Sarnia’s theatre stage to Law & Order Toronto, Cameron Wight’s TV debut highlights how training, mentorship, and industry connections can launch a career.

“We bought Cameron this course as a Christmas present, and it was the best present ever,” says his mother. “It's a gift that keeps on giving.”— Louise Wight, Cameron's MotherTORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, October 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Cameron Wight is marking a significant milestone in his acting journey after finishing Act With Purpose International's 12-week training regimen and taking part in its industry showcase, an event where performers receive direct input from agents, managers, casting directors, and other entertainment professionals. Not long after that showcase, Wight inked a deal with Star Talent Inc. and secured a part on Law & Order Toronto, converting his preparation into immediate professional traction.

In the wake of the showcase, talent agent Summer Weiler of Star Talent Inc.—an agency recognized for repping performers across film, television, commercials, voice-over, and digital platforms—took Wight onto her roster. Shortly thereafter, Wight was put forward for a role on Law & Order Toronto by acclaimed casting director Sharon Forrest, who recently picked up a Canadian Screen Award nomination for her work on the series. Forrest chose Wight for the part, giving his professional career a substantial boost.

Looking back, there may have been hints that a big break was brewing. While getting ready for the Act With Purpose International showcase, Wight made a trip to Toronto to refresh his professional headshots with Lorna Jones of LC Jones Photography, a photographer in high demand across the industry. During the session, Jones paused and suggested they go for a “Law & Order look,” even going upstairs to grab a leather jacket for Wight to wear. At that moment, it felt like just a stylistic call. In hindsight, though, the moment carries an almost premonitory weight—as if everyone in the room had an inkling of the real-life chapter that was about to unfold in Wight's career.

Wight's rise also puts a spotlight on Sarnia, Ontario's vibrant arts scene. Cameron Wight and fellow performer Kole Parks first crossed paths through Hidden Talents, the well-regarded youth theatre program run by Carrie Beauchamp that stages productions at Sarnia's historic Imperial Theatre. Both actors spent years honing their skills on that stage, laying the groundwork for what would come next.

Parks was the first of the pair to chase professional chances through Act With Purpose International. After taking part in an industry showcase, he landed professional representation and has kept adding to an impressive résumé, most recently appearing on Tracker alongside Justin Hartley. Kole is now repped by Canadian powerhouse Daniel Birnbaum at The Talent House in Toronto. Seeing Cameron's ability and promise, Parks urged his longtime friend to go after the same kinds of opportunities.

That nudge proved to be a game-changer. After wrapping up Act With Purpose International's 12-week training program and industry showcase, Wight got representation with Summer Weiler of Star Talent and booked the very first professional audition he was sent on—a guest star role in the internationally celebrated Law & Order franchise.

Cameron's milestone is especially notable because it marks the second time a performer from Sarnia's Hidden Talents community has made the leap from local theatre to professional industry work through the Act With Purpose showcase process. Taken together, the stories of Parks and Wight show how talent, training, mentorship, and community backing can forge a route from the Imperial Theatre stage to major television productions.

Even though Wight had built a foundation in acting through theatre work, school shows, and extra training, the showcase gave him a chance to put his work directly in front of industry insiders and start building relationships within the professional entertainment world.

“I loved doing this course with John Stevens,” says Wight. “I learned so much about different ways to approach roles. This course helped build my self-confidence and I felt very prepared for the showcase. Thanks to Act With Purpose, I am very lucky to have signed with Star Talent Inc. It really is about acting with purpose. Thank you, John and the Act With Purpose team.”

For Wight's family, the whole experience went beyond what they had imagined.

“We bought Cameron this course as a Christmas present, and it was the best present ever,” says his mother. “It's a gift that keeps on giving. Really. John was amazing and so positive. He is so welcoming to both the students and parents. Cameron learned so much during the 12 weeks of this course, and it didn't end there. The showcase was fantastic, and it was great to receive positive and constructive feedback. What an amazing way to start an acting career.”
Founded by actor, producer, and acting coach John Franklin Stevens, Act With Purpose International is built around helping actors develop emotional authenticity, performance technique, self-tape skills, and professional readiness. The organization draws performers from across Canada, the United States, and Europe through both online and in-person programming.

“Cameron came into the program with a genuine love for acting and a strong foundation built through years of performing,” says Stevens. “What excites me most is seeing talented artists from communities like Sarnia realize that professional opportunities are within reach. Cameron worked hard, remained open to learning, and took full advantage of the showcase experience. Watching him secure representation with Summer Weiler at Star Talent Inc. and then book Law & Order so quickly has been incredibly rewarding.”

Stevens adds, “It's also wonderful to see this happen again for Sarnia. Kole Parks helped pave the way, and Cameron's success is a testament to what can happen when artists support one another. Both performers came through Hidden Talents and the Imperial Theatre, benefited from the dedication of Carrie Beauchamp, and committed themselves to continually growing as actors. Their success speaks not only to their individual talent, but also to the strength of the artistic community that helped shape them.”

This achievement underscores the transformative impact of professional training paired with direct industry engagement. By providing a platform for critical feedback and relationship building, this educational framework ensures performers are prepared to showcase their talents within a professional environment.
As Wight continues to build his career, his recent representation and television booking mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter and demonstrate how preparation, persistence, and professional exposure can help emerging actors take meaningful steps toward their goals.

Video Intro to Act With Purpose

Why it matters: Wight’s rapid transition from a 12-week training program to a network television guest spot illustrates how structured career development can shorten the distance between ambition and opportunity. For actors in smaller markets, his trajectory—and Kole Parks’ before him—offers a replicable model of how local talent can break into the mainstream entertainment industry with the right combination of training and exposure.
