A proud Greek American filmmaker leans on his family heritage while opening doors for Greek talent in Hollywood
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, July 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Greek American film producer Tommy Vlahopoulos is adapting the incredible true story behind New York’s famous Scores nightclub for the cinema, all while tapping into a family background with deep roots in Greece and generating fresh opportunities for Greek professionals in the entertainment sector.
Through his production company, Tommy V Films, Vlahopoulos has secured sole life rights to Scores co-founder Michael D. Blutrich and is working on a feature film based on Blutrich’s memoir, ‘Scores: How I Opened the Hottest Strip Club in New York City, Was Extorted Out of Millions by the Gambino Family, and Became One of the Most Successful F.B.I Informants in History’.
For Vlahopoulos, this undertaking goes beyond crafting an engaging true-crime narrative. The producer stays strongly linked to his Greek heritage: his mother hails from Neo Psychiko in Athens, while his father comes from Litochoro in the municipality of Dion-Olympos. Through ‘Scores’ and upcoming projects under the Tommy V Films umbrella, Vlahopoulos aims to expand opportunities for Greek actors, filmmakers, and creative personnel while paying tribute to the contributions Greek immigrants have made to America’s entertainment industry.
Set between 1991 and 1998, the movie will follow the ascent of Scores, the iconic Manhattan gentlemen’s club that emerged as one of New York City’s most recognizable nightlife hotspots during the 1990s. The narrative traces attorney-turned-entrepreneur Michael Blutrich as an ambitious business endeavor morphs into a cultural sensation, only for his life to veer unexpectedly into the realms of organized crime and federal law enforcement.
Even though it was frequently targeted by professional thieves in its early years, Scores rapidly became one of New York’s most discussed nightlife venues and a draw for celebrity visitors. Its high-profile clientele featured Howard Stern, Madonna, Russell Crowe, Michael Jordan, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Christina Aguilera, Jason Giambi, Demi Moore, and numerous others. At its height, the franchise ran two Manhattan locations and licensed the Scores name to gentlemen’s clubs in five additional cities.
Yet behind the glitz, Blutrich’s life took a dramatic and perilous direction. After becoming entangled in an unrelated $400 million Florida insurance fraud case, he started secretly cooperating with federal authorities in 1996 concerning alleged extortion by members of the Gambino crime family. His path from nightclub co-founder to undercover FBI informant stands as one of the most extraordinary episodes in Scores’ history.

Vlahopoulos, whose producing credits include the upcoming John Travolta feature ‘Ed’ and the Scott Eastwood action film ‘The Outpost’, will produce alongside fellow Greek American producing partners John Bortolis, Jimmy Black, and Theodore Otto. Christopher J. Scott (‘Ed’) will serve as lead producer.

In 2015, CBS’s 60 Minutes profiled Blutrich’s story in the Anderson Cooper report ‘An Unlikely Informant’, chronicling his transformation from Scores co-founder to undercover FBI informant. ‘Scores’ is currently in development, with pre-production slated to begin later this year in New York and New Jersey.
