“Drawing participants from over 40 nations, the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards recognizes the outstanding and inventive content currently produced across every continent and viewed on every platform. We value the accomplishments of the numerous gifted individuals who form the global creative community. This year, the TV & Film Awards has launched a specific Micro-Drama Category, acknowledging the creativity and influence of storytelling designed for mobile devices. Tailored for viewers who enjoy concise, captivating episodes on their phones, micro-dramas have become a worldwide trend, transforming the way stories are crafted, shared, and experienced.
The 2026 New York Festivals Lifetime Achievement Award recognized Stephen Capus, a distinguished news leader serving as President of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) and former President of NBC News. This yearly honor acknowledges prominent industry figures whose achievements and contributions have advanced their profession and permanently shaped the media landscape.
The 2027 competition will showcase narratives that raise awareness and encourage action through two distinguished signature awards. The WaterBear Award, offered through a continuing collaboration with WaterBear Network, honors filmmakers whose visionary projects motivate viewers to safeguard the Earth.
Established to advance justice through artistic expression and public involvement, JusticeAid has joined forces with New York Festivals to deliver The JusticeAid Award, which goes to the top-scoring submission across all Social Justice categories in both the NYF TV & Film and Radio competitions.
The Kimberley (Wild Pacific Media, Australia) received the 2026 WaterBear Award, which was given to the documentary with the highest score across the Climate Change & Sustainability, Environment & Ecology, and Nature & Wildlife categories.
My Father’s Hair (Keyi Productions, France) won the 2026 JusticeAid Award, which recognizes the highest-scoring entry across Social Justice categories in the NYF TV & Film and Radio competitions. This accolade honors exceptional storytelling that confronts urgent social justice matters and fosters meaningful involvement.
Featuring 14 category groups, the 2027 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards celebrates achievement throughout today’s media landscape, spanning investigative journalism and documentaries to scripted series, branded content, streaming, sports, entertainment, and emerging narrative formats.

The eligibility period for the 2027 TV & Film Awards spans from September 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026. The final date to submit entries for this year’s competition is December 31, 2026. The New York Festivals Storytellers Gala will honor trophy recipients at a virtual event on Thursday, May 20, 2027.
