When a Nebraska nonprofit offers free movie premieres and a Hollywood actor volunteers to host, it signals something bigger than just a pair of student films. The Digg Site Productions is putting young filmmakers front and center with a free double-feature event on November 1, 2026, at the Fremont Opera House, and award-winning actor Cale Ferrin will emcee the evening.

The event, scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., will feature the premieres of two original film projects — A Jedi’s Sword and Million $ Summer Camp — followed by a filmmaker Q&A. Doors open at 4:00 p.m., and screenings begin at 5:00 p.m. Admission is completely free, with voluntary donations welcomed but never required.

The evening kicks off with A Jedi’s Sword, an original student short film written by young filmmaker Isaiah Fisher and produced through The Digg Site Productions. The project demonstrates how hands-on filmmaking opportunities can help young storytellers transform their creative ideas into completed productions. Following that short, audiences will see Million $ Summer Camp, a feature-length family comedy developed through an ambitious collaboration involving student filmmakers, Nebraska actors, experienced film professionals and dedicated community volunteers.
The production gave participating students an opportunity to experience real-world filmmaking, including working alongside professional cast and crew members, learning on-set responsibilities, and contributing to a completed feature film. “These premieres are about more than two films. They’re about young people getting to tell stories, work with professionals, and see their creativity on the big screen,” said Dana Reeves, executive director of The Digg Site Productions.
Ferrin, whose television and film credits include Hulu’s Endlings, Apple TV’s Circuit Breakers, More Beautiful for Having Been Broken, and Shadrach on Great American Pure Flix, also has a personal connection to the evening’s feature presentation. He served as an assistant director and producer on Million $ Summer Camp and was present for nearly 90 percent of filming, working alongside the students, cast and crew throughout the production. His participation as emcee brings the filmmaking experience full circle, from behind the camera to celebrating the finished work with the community.
The Digg Site Productions is a Fremont-based nonprofit dedicated to providing tuition-free filmmaking education and hands-on creative opportunities for young people. By presenting the double-feature premiere with free admission, the organization hopes to remove financial barriers and welcome families, supporters and community members to celebrate Nebraska’s emerging filmmaking talent. The production of Million $ Summer Camp was made possible in part through a generous grant from the Nebraska Arts Council, with support from the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
