Just One Life Taps GriefShare to Help Churches Tackle Grief This Holiday Season

FrontGate Moving Pictures presents JUST ONE LIFE in association with Black Maria Entertainment LLC.

| Church screening licenses and free ministry resources connect congregations with conversations about grief, faith and hope through a GriefShare partnership.

With the holidays drawing near — a stretch that brings celebration but also sharp reminders of loved ones who are gone — the inspirational drama JUST ONE LIFE is teaming up with GriefShare, a ministry of Church Initiative, to equip churches to reach people working through grief and other hard seasons of life.

Church screenings are now available nationwide for JUST ONE LIFE, which recounts a stirring tale of compassion, second chances and the outsized difference one person can make in another’s life. The GriefShare partnership gives congregations a way to transform a shared film experience into substantive conversations about faith, suffering, purpose and hope.

Congregations can secure screening licenses to present the film as a special event, a community outreach effort or a small-group experience. Backing those efforts is a set of free ministry resources at www.JustOneLife.Movie/Church, among them a six-part JUST ONE LIFE Discussion Guide built for churchwide series, congregational studies and small groups, plus two more resources created by GriefShare.

“The goal isn’t simply to talk about a movie. It’s to consider what God may want to do in our lives through the questions the movie raises,” says Willie Mellina (The Forge), who stars as Sam. “The film’s themes of purpose, compassion, and showing up for others invite audiences to consider a deeply personal question: What will you do with the life you’ve been given?”

By joining forces with GriefShare, the film reaches past the screen itself, pointing viewers toward trusted, Christ-centered resources and support for those who have lost a loved one.

“Entertainment has a unique ability to touch hearts, inspire hope, and leave a lasting impact. That’s why we’re so excited about our JUST ONE LIFE partnership with GriefShare,” remarks Scott A. Shuford, CEO of FrontGate Moving Pictures, a division of FrontGate Media. “Their exceptional resources help extend the film’s impact beyond the screen, offering meaningful support, encouragement, and a path toward healing for those navigating grief and loss. As we approach the holiday season—a time when past and present losses can be felt especially deeply—we believe this partnership can make a real difference in people’s lives.”

Pastors and ministry leaders get a well-timed opening from JUST ONE LIFE to tackle subjects that are often hard to raise — grief, suffering and what faith means when life veers from expectations.

“JUST ONE LIFE is a heartwarming and thought-provoking film. It offers churches a natural starting point for conversations about grief, suffering, and faith,” says Sam Hodges, President of Church Initiative.

Why it matters: For churches, the pairing of a feature film with GriefShare’s established support network offers a ready-made way to open conversations many congregations avoid until crisis hits. With the holiday season heightening the pain of loss for many families, the initiative positions a movie screening as a practical entry point to year-round care.
