The Tyrannus Angel Awards has announced a red-carpet AI filmmaking gala scheduled for October 24, 2026, in downtown Los Angeles. The event, which will be accompanied by a global livestream, places a distinctive emphasis on family-friendly, values-driven storytelling created with artificial intelligence tools.
With a total prize pool of $50,000, the awards represent one of the more significant financial incentives in the emerging AI filmmaking space. Nine award winners will be recognized across three categories: Original Works, Adapted Works, and Animated Works. Each category honors Best Director ($5,000), Best Screenplay ($3,000), and Best Production ($3,000). Additionally, 30 finalists will receive $500 each, and four Special Mention recipients will collect $500 apiece.
The jury brings serious Hollywood credentials to the table. Davy Liu, a former Disney animator who worked on Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Mulan, and The Lion King, will evaluate submissions alongside David Johnson, a producer with over 30 years in the entertainment industry whose credits include The Rooftop, Nezha, and Soul Assassin. Steven Springer of Global Presence Ministries rounds out the panel.
Submissions opened on July 1, 2026, with a deadline of September 20. Finalists will be announced on October 1, giving selected filmmakers roughly three weeks to prepare for the gala.
The event reflects a growing movement to define ethical and creative standards for AI filmmaking before the technology becomes ubiquitous. By focusing on values-driven content, the Tyrannus Foundation is staking out a position in the AI debate that goes beyond technical capability to address questions of purpose and responsibility.
