The Digg Site Draws 75 to Fremont for Film Premiere and Student Preview

Community gathers at Fremont Opera House to celebrate local filmmaking and tuition-free film education

“When young people share something they’ve created, having a room full of people show up for them matters,” said Dana Reeves of The Digg Site.”— Dana ReevesFREMONT, NE, UNITED STATES, November 2, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — FREMONT, Neb. — A crowd of 75 filled the Fremont Opera House on November 1 for a double-feature celebration hosted by The Digg Site, spotlighting homegrown filmmaking and the emerging talents finding their creative voices behind the lens.

Audiences were treated to the premiere of Million $ Summer Camp, helmed by director Ishma Valenti, along with an advance preview of A Jedi’s Sword, a student short penned by Isaiah Fisher. Those in attendance also got the chance to engage directly with the filmmakers during a question-and-answer session. Actor and producer Cale Ferrin guided the evening as emcee.

Because A Jedi’s Sword is still being developed, the preview gave the audience an exclusive early glimpse of the project — and gave Fisher a chance to present his work to a welcoming community as he continues to shape the film.

“When young people share something they’ve created, having a room full of people show up for them matters,” said Dana Reeves of The Digg Site. “Those 75 people were there to watch their films, ask questions and celebrate their work. That kind of encouragement can give a young filmmaker the confidence to keep going.”

The Digg Site’s mission is tuition-free film education, pairing young people with film professionals and practical, hands-on chances to explore storytelling, production and creative collaboration. The evening translated that mission onto the screen, letting audiences witness what community backing helps bring to life.

Attendees also played a role in documenting the celebration through POV, building a shared album of 132 photos that captured the evening from the crowd’s own point of view. View the event's photo album.

The organization extends its thanks to the Nebraska Arts Council; its film professional educators, including Valenti; its donors and supporters; its volunteers and Board of Directors; and everyone who attended.

The Digg Site also recognizes Southern Style Bar, Christensen Family YMCA Lodge, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Fremont Police Department for their support.

Why it matters: The turnout shows how a single screening can turn into real momentum for young creators — the 75 attendees weren’t just watching films, they were validating the work of students like Isaiah Fisher at a formative stage. With tuition-free film education and professional mentors behind them, that kind of community encouragement can be the difference between a project that stalls and a filmmaker who keeps going.
